Volvsoft — manufacturing software company

Job Shop ERP Software

Built for machine shops, fabricators, and make-to-order manufacturers — fast quoting, finite-capacity scheduling, real-time shop-floor control, and accurate job costing without an enterprise-ERP overhead.

Job shops live and die by quoting accuracy and capacity utilization. The estimator who quotes 4 hours on a job that takes 6 wins business but loses margin. The shop manager who can't see real available capacity at the bottleneck overcommits and misses delivery dates. Generic ERP either doesn't model shop-floor reality or is wildly over-built for an operation with fewer than 50 machines.

Volvsoft builds custom job shop ERP for US fabricators, machine shops, weld shops, and make-to-order manufacturers. Right-sized — fast quoting with historical-cost reuse, finite-capacity scheduling at the bottleneck, and shop-floor data capture from existing tablets. No bloated enterprise feature set, no per-user pricing that punishes growth.

What you get

Fast quoting with cost reuse

Historical job lookup, parametric cost models, drag-and-drop routing assembly. Quote turnaround in minutes, not hours.

Finite-capacity scheduling

Real bottleneck visibility, sequence-dependent setup time, hot-job priority handling, drag-to-reschedule Gantt board.

Shop-floor data capture

Tablet-based clock-on/off, scan-to-find-job, photo capture, completion confirmation. Works in noise and gloves.

Job costing & variance

Estimated vs actual labor, material, and overhead. Per-job profitability rolled up to customer and program level.

Material certs & traceability

Mill cert capture, heat-lot tracking, customer-required documentation auto-attached to packing list and invoice.

Customer self-service

Optional portal for RFQ submission, order status, document download, invoice payment.

Where typical job-shop ERP fails

Common patterns we see when shops outgrow their first ERP:

  • Quoting takes too long because every estimate is built from scratch — no historical-cost reuse
  • Scheduling is a whiteboard or spreadsheet because the ERP scheduler assumes infinite capacity
  • Shop floor data capture requires PCs, not tablets, leading to clipboard-then-rekey workflows
  • Job costing arrives weeks after the job closes — too late to course-correct
  • Material cert tracking is in PDFs in a network folder, broken at audit time

Made for the actual shop floor

Shop floor is loud, messy, and runs on whatever device the operator can carry. The ERP has to work there.

  • Touchscreen tablets (rugged Android or iPad) instead of fixed PCs
  • Scan-to-find-job with shop traveler barcodes
  • One-tap clock-on / clock-off with operator badge scan
  • Photo and signature capture inline with completion
  • Offline tolerance — keeps working when WiFi drops, syncs when reconnected

Right-sized — not enterprise

Job shops don't need 5-tier organizational hierarchies, multi-currency consolidation, or 200 user permission groups. They need fast quoting and accurate costing. We build to that scope.

  • Single-currency, single-entity by default (multi-entity available when needed)
  • Simple permission model: estimator, planner, supervisor, operator, accounting, owner
  • Quoting and shop control on day one — full financials when you're ready
  • Pricing per shop, not per user — growth doesn't punish you
  • Hosted, on-prem, or hybrid — your choice

Frequently asked questions

How fast can we quote a typical job?

Target: under 10 minutes for a familiar part family, under 30 minutes for novel work. We build the historical-cost search and parametric models to make this realistic for your operation.

Can it handle CNC machine integration?

Yes. We integrate with MTConnect-capable controls, FANUC, Siemens, Heidenhain, and Mazak natively. Older controls without standard protocols are integrated via current-clamp or PLC-tap retrofits.

What about CMM and quality data?

CMM data import (Zeiss Calypso, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS, Hexagon PC-DMIS), in-process inspection capture on tablets, customer-required FAI report generation. Aerospace AS9102 supported.

How does this differ from generic ERP like NetSuite or QuickBooks?

QuickBooks has no manufacturing data model — every job becomes a bill of journal entries. NetSuite manufacturing is enterprise-class with enterprise pricing — overkill for a 10-machine shop. We sit in between: real shop-floor capability without enterprise overhead.
