Volvsoft — manufacturing software company

Aerospace & Defense ERP Software

Built for AS9100, ITAR, and configuration-managed production — where every part has a history, every change has an effective date, and every audit needs evidence.

Aerospace and defense manufacturing has more compliance overhead than any other discrete vertical. AS9100 demands traceability and configuration control most ERPs treat as bolt-ons. ITAR demands export-controlled access and audit trails most ERPs can't enforce at the data layer. The DoD's CMMC Level 2 (and increasingly Level 3) demands cybersecurity controls most cloud ERPs aren't ready for.

Volvsoft builds aerospace ERP for US manufacturers whose existing platform makes audits a multi-week extraction exercise. We model configuration control, AS9102 FAI flows, and ITAR access controls into the data layer — not into custom reports written after the fact. Typically deployed alongside our AS9100 QMS and supply chain traceability platforms.

What you get

Configuration management

Effective-dated BOM and routing changes. Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) tracked from initiation to closure with as-designed/as-built/as-shipped reconciliation.

AS9102 FAI workflow

First Article Inspection report generation with form 1, 2, 3 outputs in the FAA / customer-required formats. CMM data integration.

Serialized component genealogy

Forward and backward traceability for every serial. One query reveals every supplier lot, machine, and operator that touched the part.

ITAR-compliant access

Role-based US-person verification. Document and data segregation. Export-jurisdictional tagging on every record. Audit log retention per ITAR §122.5.

Counterfeit parts prevention

DFARS 252.246-7008 / SAE AS5553 / AS6174-aligned supplier qualification, incoming inspection, and supply-chain documentation.

DoD CMMC Level 2 / 3 ready

Multi-factor authentication, log retention, encryption at rest and in transit, FedRAMP-aligned hosting options.

Why generic ERP doesn't work in aerospace

Aerospace contracts are won and lost on traceability evidence. Generic ERP platforms break in three places consistently:

  • Configuration management treated as engineering metadata, not first-class transactional data
  • BOM effectivity dates honored at planning but not at production execution — leading to nonconformance findings
  • ITAR access controls implemented at the application UI, not the database — breaking when admin queries run
  • FAI generation as a manual export, not a flow, leading to incomplete or out-of-date forms at customer review
  • Counterfeit-parts evidence missing because supplier records aren't structured to AS5553 / AS6174

Specific ITAR / EAR features

ITAR / EAR compliance is more than 'don't share with non-US persons.' The data layer has to enforce it; the audit trail has to prove it.

  • Per-record export jurisdiction tagging (ITAR USML, EAR ECCN)
  • US-person status verification at the user record level
  • Document and screen-level access enforcement based on jurisdiction tag
  • Audit log retention with §122.5 compliance
  • Foreign person tracking for inadvertent exposure investigation

Integration with the aerospace toolchain

Aerospace plants run a specific toolchain that ERP must coexist with — not replace.

  • PLM — Windchill, Teamcenter, Aras (configuration source of truth)
  • MES — Solumina iBase-t, Aegis, custom (work execution and as-built capture)
  • QMS — ETQ, MasterControl, Greenlight Guru, custom (NCR, CAPA, audit)
  • Customer portals — Boeing PSDS, Lockheed Exostar, Raytheon, custom Tier-1 portals
  • Supplier portals — Exostar, SupplyOn, custom

Frequently asked questions

Can this support DoD CMMC Level 3?

Yes. Architecture is FIPS 140-2 / -3 cryptography, FedRAMP-aligned hosting (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government), CMMC Level 3 control coverage. Documentation supports your assessor's audit.

How does this integrate with our PLM?

PLM stays the configuration source of truth. ERP receives BOM and routing releases via standard interfaces (Windchill webservices, Teamcenter SOA, Aras WebService). We do not duplicate configuration data — we reference it.

What about FAA Part 21 production?

We support Part 21 PMA, TSO, and PC production approval workflows — production records that satisfy FAA conformity inspections without custom report writing.

Can you replace our existing ERP?

Yes. Common starting points include Costpoint, Deltek, Epicor, IFS, Infor, IQMS, Plex, JD Edwards, and IBM AS/400 systems. We've migrated each. Migration paths vary based on customization weight and contract obligations.
