Custom CMMS & Maintenance Management Software
Preventive scheduling, work-order workflows, MRO inventory, and a mobile technician app — built for plants where maintenance is a profit center, not a cost center.
Off-the-shelf CMMS (Maximo, Fiix, UpKeep, eMaint, MicroMain) is a fine fit if your maintenance org follows a textbook playbook. The bigger and more regulated your plant gets, the worse the fit usually becomes — vendors price per asset or per technician, the mobile app fights the way your techs actually work, and integration to your ERP and MES is brittle.
Volvsoft builds custom CMMS and EAM software for US manufacturers whose maintenance operation is differentiated, regulated, or deeply integrated with production. We focus on what makes maintenance teams faster: clean work-order flow, reliable spare-parts data, and a mobile experience that works in a noisy plant.
What you get
Preventive maintenance scheduling
Time-based, runtime-based, condition-based. Holiday calendars, shift patterns, and resource constraints respected.
Work-order management
Reactive, planned, emergency. Approval flows, parts reservation, labor capture, photos, and signatures.
MRO inventory & spares
Min-max replenishment, reservations, kitting, vendor catalog integration, OEM cross-references.
Mobile technician app
Offline-capable. Built for handhelds and tablets. Clock-on, scan-asset, capture-photo, sign-off in the same screen.
Predictive maintenance integration
Receives PdM alerts and turns them into prioritized, parts-staged work orders automatically.
ERP & MES integration
Spares purchasing in ERP, asset downtime in MES, all without re-keying.
When custom CMMS pays back
Off-the-shelf wins when your maintenance org is small and standard. Custom CMMS is right when:
- Per-asset or per-tech licensing makes the off-the-shelf TCO uncompetitive at scale
- Maintenance has to coordinate tightly with production — work-orders need to respect the running schedule
- FDA, AS9100, or other regulators require validated workflows the vendor can't ship as-is
- Spare parts data is messy and the vendor's catalog model doesn't fit
- The mobile UX has to work in environments (refineries, foundries, cleanrooms) the vendor app wasn't designed for
Asset hierarchy that matches your plant
The asset hierarchy is the spine of any CMMS. Get it wrong and reporting is wrong forever. We model it the way your reliability engineers actually think about the equipment.
- Site → Area → System → Asset → Component (ISO 14224 aligned)
- Functional location independent of physical asset (so swap-out doesn't break history)
- Equipment criticality classification with reliability engineering input
- Failure modes and effects (FMEA) data model integrated with work-order taxonomy
- Spare-part to component linkage for fast spares lookup
Mobile-first UX
Most CMMS adoption fails on the technician app. We design for the operator, not the IT director who picks the platform.
- Offline-first — full work-order, asset, and parts data available without WiFi
- Built-in barcode scanning for asset and parts identification
- One-handed flows — designed for techs in gloves
- Voice-to-text for failure notes
- Photo capture inline with work-order steps
Frequently asked questions
Is this an EAM or a CMMS?
Both — the line is blurry. We build with the asset, financial, and reliability data models needed for full EAM, but we don't force you to use what you don't need. Plants typically start with CMMS workflows and grow into EAM analytics.
How does it relate to your predictive-maintenance offering?
PdM is the input; CMMS is what acts on it. We integrate them tightly so a vibration anomaly automatically becomes a planned work order with the right parts staged and the right tech assigned.
Can technicians use their personal phones?
Yes — the app is responsive PWA / native iOS+Android, BYOD-friendly with MDM support. For environments where personal phones are restricted (cleanrooms, ATEX areas), we deploy on plant-managed devices.
What integrations are available out of the box?
ERP (SAP, NetSuite, Plex, Dynamics, Oracle, Infor, Epicor), MES (Aegis, iBase-t, Plex, Wonderware), historian (PI, Wonderware), PdM platforms, supplier catalogs (Grainger, MSC, Fastenal). Custom connectors built as needed.
