Custom Inventory & Warehouse Management Software
Real-time stock visibility, lot/serial traceability, and warehouse workflows that match how your plant actually moves material — not how a vendor wishes it did.
Most manufacturers don't have an inventory problem — they have an inventory data problem. ERPs say one number, the floor says another, and the cycle count says a third. The gap between them is dollars sitting in WIP, expedite freight on phantom shortages, and customers waiting on parts that are physically in the building.
Volvsoft builds custom inventory and warehouse management software for plants where stock movement is too non-standard, too regulated, or too integrated with production for an off-the-shelf WMS. We work with your ERP, MES, and shop-floor scanners — not against them.
What you get
Real-time stock by location
Bin, rack, lane, work-cell, kit-cart — visibility at whatever granularity your operation needs.
Lot & serial traceability
Forward and backward genealogy for FDA, AS9100, IATF audits. One scan reveals the whole history.
Barcode & RFID workflows
Zebra, Honeywell, Datalogic scanners. Android-based handhelds. Fixed RFID portals at dock and work-cell.
Cycle counting that actually closes
ABC strategies, blind/visible counts, exception escalation, and root-cause categorization.
Kanban & min-max replenishment
2-bin, 3-bin, electronic kanban. Auto-replen triggers feeding ERP purchase requests.
ERP & MES integration
Two-way sync with NetSuite, Plex, SAP, Dynamics, Infor, Epicor, Oracle, and your custom systems.
Where custom inventory software pays back
Off-the-shelf WMS (HighJump, SnapFulfil, Manhattan) is the right pick if your operation looks like a standard distribution center. Custom WMS / IMS wins when:
- You have heavy WIP between operations and need plant-floor visibility, not just warehouse
- Production kitting drives picking — the WMS has to talk to MES work orders
- Lot/serial traceability requirements are stricter than vendor defaults
- Receipts trigger inspection workflows tied to your QMS
- Reverse logistics for repairs, returns, or rework is a meaningful share of volume
Plant-floor inventory, not just warehouse
True manufacturing inventory software has to track material between operations, not just at the dock. We build for the four big control points:
- Receiving — inspection-required holds, supplier lot capture, cert linking
- Stockroom — multi-UOM, FIFO/FEFO/FAIO, expiration management
- Work-in-process — material consumed at routing operations, scrap genealogy
- Shipping — kitting, pick-pack, ASN generation, customer-specific labeling
Hardware we integrate
An inventory system is only as good as the data capture at the point of action. We build for the hardware your operators actually use.
- Zebra TC52/TC72 Android handhelds, Honeywell CT60, Datalogic Memor
- Forklift-mounted Zebra VC8x and Datalogic Skorpio
- Fixed RFID readers (Impinj, Zebra FX9600) at dock doors and gates
- Brother / Zebra industrial label printers with ZPL workflow templates
- Bluetooth scales for weigh-counting consumables
Frequently asked questions
Do you replace our ERP's inventory module?
Sometimes. More often we sit on top of it — your ERP stays the source of financial truth, our software handles the operational reality on the floor. We sync them in real time so the two never drift apart.
How fast can we go live?
First building or production line in 8-14 weeks. Full multi-site rollout typically 4-9 months depending on integration scope and hardware procurement timelines.
What about RF coverage in the warehouse?
We don't deploy access points, but we'll do the site survey with your IT team and design the application to handle disconnect/reconnect gracefully — operators keep working when WiFi drops, syncing happens when it's back.
Can it handle multiple sites?
Yes. Multi-site is the default architecture — distributed databases per site, central data warehouse for cross-site reporting, and inter-site transfer workflows with intransit visibility.
